I've been on the Bluebonnet weight management plan for 11 months. I have lost over 60 lbs.

I have had doctors tell me to lose weight, hand me a low-cholesterol diet, suggest it will be easy and send me on my way. No matter how much I wanted and needed to lose weight, I was not able to do it on my own. My struggle with weight changed when my heart doctor gave me Dr. Kalia's number. Dr. Kalia was the first doctor to take the time to explain and show me how to develop good eating habits. Dr. Kalia explains what is actually happening in your body when certain foods are eaten which was an eye opener for me. He explains why hunger can be so out of control.

The Bluebonnet plan teaches you how to make healthy meals, giving you shopping lists and recipes to get you started. This plan is unique in that it encourages legal "cheating" called "free styling". I love my Wednesday suppers and my Saturdays. I can basically eat whatever I've been missing on the daily plan.

This plan is unlike any other I have ever tried. There is a doctor and nutritionist available in person and by e-mail all week to answer any questions to help you to be successful. Then on Tuesday you also have caring group meeting to share your experiences.

Dr Kalia and Susan,

Just wanted to let you guys know that B and I are still with the program.  I got off some from Dec until last month- when visiting our son and family in Germany and over the holidays, but started back with the first two week and lost the 6 lbs that I’d gained during that time.  I’ve lost 36 lbs at this point and I think B has lost 48. I would still like to lose 5 or 6 more, but I think B is good with where she is. I wanted to let you know that even though we weren’t coming to the weekly meetings, we still use the program – which I still call a diet and B keeps reminding me is a life change… Ha!  It has been a success for both of us.

We might stop by some evening –if it’s ok, just to let you weigh us and add that info to our files for your research. It’s been almost a year since we started and that will show long term weight loss for new people who are wondering about that.

Hello.  You probably don’t remember me...  My wife and I came to Phase 1 and 2 with -- and -- last year and I actually started your system the first week of June 2009.  I wanted to wait to the summer when I was off to really be able to follow the program.

I rigidly followed the book from the first week of June and by the end of August had dropped 65 lbs.   I went from 5’8”, 265 lbs. to 200 lbs. by the first of September.  I do not follow the diet per se now but I apply the principles I learned from you and have kept the weight off and foresee myself doing so indefinitely.  Even though I did indulge a little over the holidays I am in total control of my eating.  Not a slave to my hunger the way I was when I first met you.

My wife and I have a 3 year old and a 1 year old and I can’t express how glad I am to be able to get down on the floor and play and run around with them without getting winded and tired.  I can take walks with my wife and kids and enjoy them for the first time in a long time.  It just feels good to have control of my eating for the first time in my life.

Another "C"... a relatively new participant

I must tell you I'm enjoying this new eating habit. 
And I'm not hungry :) WOW!! Can't believe I can give my son a cupcake and not feel to eat the leftovers when he's done.  (I'm a pastry fanatic).  I'm feeling great and I'm down from 142.5 to 135.
